From June 5
through June 18, CIGRAH, Winrock International and Fundación
Jicatuyo, joined efforts in bringing technical assistance
in administration to five Cooperatives in the Copan
and Lempira departments (provinces) of Honduras. Through
Winrock International, we were able to secure the help
of Kiedi Jamison. Kai, as she is affectionately known,
is an expert in the areas of Accounting and Education
and she graciously volunteered her time and effort.
Together, we worked with
COPRANIL, COCAPROMAL, COCPROCAL, COARENE, and CAPUCAS.
The objective of the project was to help the Cooperatives
become more efficient in the administration of their
operations. Kai helped them rethink their processes
– from paperwork reduction, budgeting, establishing
checks and balances, through file management. In the
end, we believe that this project was well worth the
effort. But the work isn’t done here; this is
simply the beginning of long-lasting business partnerships
with these five cooperatives.
